On-Site Volunteer
As an On-Site Volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of Solihull Lodge Community Centre. You will be the friendly face of our Centre, providing a warm welcome to hirers, their customers, and new potential users. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys meeting people, solving queries, maintaining a clean space, and helping with the Centre’s opening and closing routines.
Our on-site volunteer role is all about being a friendly and supportive presence at the Centre. Volunteers welcome hirers and visitors, answer questions, provide site tours, and help ensure the venue is clean, tidy, and safe. Duties include opening and closing the building, restocking supplies, cleaning key areas (toilets, kitchen, hall, etc.), and carrying out light admin tasks if desired. Volunteers are also responsible for basic fire safety procedures, including testing the fire alarm and leading safe evacuations if needed. Full training is provided, making it a great opportunity to support your community and make a real difference.

Caretaker
Role Overview:
As the caretaker you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of the facilities and premises of Solihull Lodge Community Association. Responsible for performing a variety of duties related to building upkeep, the caretaker contributes to creating a welcoming and safe environment for staff, volunteers, and visitors.
The caretaker volunteer role focuses on maintaining the Centre’s cleanliness, safety, and day-to-day functionality. Volunteers help with tasks such as general cleaning, restocking supplies, managing bins, basic maintenance, and supporting with room setups. They ensure the Centre is presentable, welcoming, and ready for use by our hirers and visitors. This role is ideal for someone hands-on who enjoys making a visible impact in their community. Full guidance and support are provided.
Skills and Attributes:
- Previous experience in caretaking, janitorial, or facilities maintenance roles preferred.
- Ability to perform manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength and agility, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Grounds Keeper
We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Volunteer Grounds Keeper to help maintain and improve the outdoor spaces at Solihull Lodge Community Centre. This role is ideal for someone who loves being outdoors and wants to make a positive impact on the local community by ensuring our green spaces are tidy, safe, and welcoming.
The Volunteer Grounds Keeper at Solihull Lodge Community Centre plays a vital role in maintaining our outdoor spaces, helping to create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all visitors. Responsibilities include mowing the lawn, trimming hedges, maintaining flower beds, clearing litter, and supporting seasonal outdoor projects. This hands-on role is perfect for someone who enjoys being outdoors, has a keen eye for detail, and wants to make a visible difference in their community. All tools and support are provided, along with plenty of tea, coffee, and community spirit!
Skills and Attributes:

Administrator & On-Site Support

As the Administrator you are responsible to provide essential administrative support to the Centre Secretary and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the Centre. This role also includes duties as an On-Site Volunteer, ensuring a welcoming, safe, and clean environment for all visitors and hirers.
This flexible role is ideal for someone organised, friendly, and community-focused. You’ll assist our Centre Secretary with admin tasks such as managing emails, helping with bookings, keeping records updated, and supporting meetings and events. The ideal volunteer will have strong written communication skills, an eye for detail, and a passion for supporting community causes. Working closely with the management team, this role helps ensure the Centre can continue delivering essential services, events, and improvements for the benefit of all.

You’ll be responsible for maximising the use of the Centre’s facilities, maintaining a high standard of service, and ensuring the venue is well-maintained and welcoming for all users.
The Volunteer Bookings and Venue Manager is responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of room bookings at Solihull Lodge Community Centre. This role involves managing booking enquiries, supporting hirers, maintaining the Hallmaster system, and ensuring the venue is prepared and welcoming for all users. With an eye for detail and great organisational skills, this volunteer ensures spaces are used efficiently, helping both community groups and private hires enjoy a seamless experience. This role is key in maximising the Centre’s use and supporting its financial sustainability.

Treasurer and Finance Manager
We’re looking for a dedicated and trustworthy individual to join our team as Treasurer. This essential role involves overseeing the financial health of Solihull Lodge Community Centre, including managing budgets, processing payments and income, tracking donations, supporting grant reporting, and working closely with the Trustees to ensure transparency and compliance.
If you’re organised, have a head for numbers, and want to help make a real difference in your community, we’d love to hear from you. Experience with bookkeeping or financial software (e.g. Xero) is helpful but not essential—training and support will be provided.
The Treasurer oversees the financial affairs of the association, ensuring financial health, transparency, and compliance with relevant regulations. The Treasurer is responsible for financial planning, budgeting, and reporting.

Skilled Tradespeople
Overview:
Solihull Lodge Community Centre is seeking passionate and skilled tradespeople to join our team of dedicated volunteers. These roles are vital in helping us restore and maintain the Centre so it can continue to be a welcoming, safe, and accessible hub for the community. Whether you’re newly qualified, retired, or working in the trade and want to give back — we would love to hear from you!
We’re Looking For Help From:
- Electricians – to assist with maintenance, upgrades, and installations
- Plumbers – to support essential plumbing repairs and upgrades
- Gas Engineers – to help ensure heating and hot water systems are working safely and efficiently
- Plasterers – to repair and finish walls to a high standard
- Painters & Decorators – to help brighten and restore rooms throughout the Centre
- Builders – for general repair work, improvements, and structural support
- Floor Fitters – to assist with laying safe, durable flooring
- Groundskeepers/Gardeners – to maintain our outdoor spaces and make them inviting for all
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out repairs, renovations or improvements based on your trade
- Work independently or alongside other volunteers on projects
- Support emergency callouts or maintenance where needed (optional/flexible)
- Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations
- Help maintain the Centre to a safe and functional standard
